A sad day: Antonio Carluccio died on Wednesday 8th November aged 80.
Not going to say too much about him, except that he inspired in so many ways, with that Italian cucina pauvre style of cooking – mof mof. Minimum of fuss, maximum of flavour.
He was genuinely a t home picking his beloved mushrooms, and seemed to believe that simplicity is the key to lifelong happiness.
Sadly, he was of a melancholic nature, which in a way added to his appeal, but caused him so many black days.
I interviewed him many years ago, a gentle but very real and honest human being.
