Kitchen Newbie was founded in 2016 by cookery writers Paul and Diana Peacock after an idea by their daughter, Rebecca, to help people learn to cook. After years of teaching and writing about food and gardening, they realised that the fundamentals of cooking, such as how to cook a vegetable, when are onions ready when sweating, how hot should a pan be… all these questions just were not being answered by the range of books and websites available at the time. Moreover, once you can do a couple of basic techniques, a whole range of delicious recipes opens up to you. Mastered Spaghetti Bolognese? Try making a lasagne! It’s the next logical step.
Kitchen Newbie is designed to provide the basic know-how so you can get to grips with your kitchen. We’ll hold your hand and give you confidence in the kitchen. Each one of our recipes is designed to be straightforward, easy to follow and is tried and tested by our resident Kitchen Newbie – if he can do it, so can you!
Diana and Paul Peacock have written over 30 books on cooking and gardening and have appeared on television and radio. Paul was a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Gardener’s Question Time and had a column in the Daily Mirror as Mr Digwell. They have hosted expert panels at the national exhibition ‘The Edible Garden Show’, as well as being regular guests at food festivals around the country. They are both passionate about food, and passing on the ability for people to cook the finest quality food in their own homes.
Paul’s best-selling ‘The Sausage Book’ has sold over 20,000 copies and has over 130 5 star reviews on Amazon.co.uk.
